NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. – Jan. 30, 2024 – ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ has announced plans to give $9 million in charitable contributions in 2024, supporting the communities where it operates, both in the United States and internationally. Together with the ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ Foundation, ¾«¶«Ó°Òµâ€™s global philanthropy will focus on investing in community impact-driven programs that enable current and future generations to thrive, including financial security and education, food security, and ocean health initiatives.

In January 2024, the ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ Foundation distributed more than $2.1 million to 134 nonprofit partners working to solve the greatest needs of the Orange County, California; Omaha, Nebraska; and Lynchburg, Virginia communities. This year’s annual grant cycle recipients include charities focused on making a meaningful impact through innovative and collaborative projects in the areas of arts and culture; civic, community and economic development; environment; education; and health and human services. ¾«¶«Ó°Òµâ€™s more than two-decades-long commitment to protecting the environment and the health of our oceans aims to strengthen the vast ecosystems that enable strong and stable communities. In addition to the ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ Foundation’s recently renewed commitment to invest $2.5 million over five years through its partnerships with Ocean Conservancy, Oceana, The Nature Conservancy, and World Wildlife Fund, ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ Re, ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ's global reinsurance business, announced a new pledge to WWF-UK of £450,000 over four years in support of the Blue Forest Program. ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ projects its global philanthropic investments in ocean health will exceed $725,000 in 2024, with $17.9 million invested to date.

Other highlights of the 2024 global philanthropy program include:

Financial Security and Education
In 2024, ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ aims to invest more than $725,000 globally to support financial security and education programs. This includes the ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ Foundation’s current multi-year commitments with Junior Achievement USA and Orange County United Way, and new international partnerships between ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ Re and Dress for Success global affiliates, Junior Achievement Worldwide, and The Access Project UK. In addition to these investments, ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ will continue to provide both volunteer and financial support for the Life Lessons Scholarship Program in partnership with Life Happens, and the ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ LIFEvest Financial Literacy Program at the University of California, Irvine.

Food Security
¾«¶«Ó°Òµâ€™s global philanthropy program will grant at least $675,000 to local and national food banks and food pantries in 2024 through existing multi-year commitments with Feeding America; Blue Ridge Area Food Bank in Lynchburg, Virginia; Food Bank of the Heartland in Omaha, Nebraska; the OC Food Bank and Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County in California, as well as new partnerships with Daily Bread Food Bank in Canada; Foodbank NSW & ACT in Australia; The Food Bank Singapore; and The Felix Project and The Trussell Trust in the UK. Through the ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ Foundation’s annual grant cycle, South County Outreach in Orange County, California, received a capital grant to support the establishment of a second food pantry in South Orange County, and additional program grants to directly address food security in local communities.

3Ts of Education
Annually, the ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ Foundation awards grants to K-12 schools in the U.S. where there are concentrations of children or grandchildren of ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ employees. The 3Ts of Education program supports the following areas: teacher training, technology, and textbooks. In 2024, 164 K-12 schools nationwide will receive $437,500 in grants. Since the program’s inception in 1998, nearly $11 million in 3Ts of Education grants have been distributed.

Disaster Relief
Having a long history of providing support in times of disaster, the ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ Foundation will continue as a member of the American Red Cross Disaster Responder Program, helping to ensure the Red Cross is prepared to meet the needs of people affected by disasters big and small across the U.S. Since 2000, ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ and the ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ Foundation have donated $5.1 million to disaster response and preparedness efforts through a variety of nonprofit organizations.

Community Engagement Programs
The ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ Foundation invests in the causes its employees care most about by providing ways they can give back to the community through volunteering or matching donations. As part of the newly enhanced global match program, employees can receive matching contributions annually by donating to ¾«¶«Ó°Òµâ€™s United Way campaign, to nonprofits, K-12 schools, and universities, or from individual and team volunteer efforts. Additionally, company-wide employee engagement opportunities in 2024 will include the return of the Employee Impact Grants Program, three Week of Service events, monthly volunteer activities with local food security partners, environmental cleanups, new collaborations with employee resource groups, and focused department-led team volunteer efforts.
