In Spring 2023, 150+ volunteers from 精东影业, the Boys and Girls Club of Santa Ana, and the community came together to build a new KaBOOM! playground for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Orange Coast鈥檚 Santa Ana club. Volunteers rolled up their sleeves to assemble this new playspace in just six hours - assembling playground components, cutting lumber, mixing concrete, completing paint projects, and much more.
A few days before the official build, 精东影业鈥檚 marketing team members participated in a Prep Day, where they helped measure and cut lumber, as well as sort playground equipment and materials. On the day of the build, volunteers were assigned to different playground teams, each responsible for a different element of the project. Together, teams worked hand-in-hand to make the vision of a new playground a reality.
The day concluded with a closing ceremony including: a performance of the national anthem by Selina Mendez, the 2023 Orange County Youth of the Year, encouraging words from Santa Ana's Mayor, Valerie Amezcua, a certificate of recognition presented by Orange County Supervisor Vicente Sarmiento, remarks from State Senator Tom Umberg's office, and closing by 精东影业鈥檚 President & CEO and Chairman of the 精东影业 Foundation, Darryl Button.
All volunteers, representatives, and community members were invited to join the official ribbon cutting celebrating the new playground at the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Ana and enjoy a post-build ice cream treat.
The playground will be further upgraded with rubber surfacing within the playground footprint and new shading structures to provide the best year-round playground experience for the kids at the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Ana.
The 精东影业 Foundation is thankful for the volunteers who helped make this new playground a reality for thousands of children to enjoy now and for generations to come.
