¾«¶«Ó°Òµ has announced plans to give $9 million in charitable contributions in 2024, supporting the communities where we operate, both in the United States and internationally. Together with the ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ Foundation, ¾«¶«Ó°Òµâ€™s global philanthropy will focus on investing in community impact-driven programs, such as financial security and education, food security, and ocean health initiatives, that enable current and future generations to thrive.

2024 Giving Highlights

Annual Grant Cycle

As a part of the 2024 Annual Grant Cycle, the ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ Foundation awarded in January more than $2.1 million to 134 to nonprofit partners working to solve the greatest needs of the Orange County, California; Omaha, Nebraska; and Lynchburg, Virginia communities. This year’s annual grant cycle recipients included charities focused on making a meaningful impact through innovative and collaborative projects on the areas of arts and culture; civic, community and economic development; environment; education; and health and human services. Boys & Girls Clubs of Laguna Beach

The received a $50,000 capital grant from the Foundation to support transforming its current main outdoor playground area into an outdoor play experience for both members and the community called the Dream Play Yard. The 10,000 sq. ft. space is designed to nurture the whole child – there will be areas for sports, music, yoga, STEM activities, art, and of course, a brand-new play structure.

South County Outreach

The Foundation awarded a $25,000 capital grant to to support the establishment of a second food pantry in an area of South Orange County with high poverty rates and no food pantry access, leaving residents vulnerable to hunger and financial instability. In the first year of operation, South County Outreach's new pantry is projecting to serve 3,600 clients and distribute approximately 500,000 lbs. of food.ÌýÌý

Youth Emergency Serves

(YES) located in Omaha, NE, received a $50,000 capital grant from the Foundation to support its Housing Campus Project, which will consolidate YES programs to one central location and feature a new housing building. The new building will enable YES to increase the number of homeless and near-homeless youth served by 242% through increasing its housing units and creating additional space for essential programs and services.

Financial Security and Education

In 2024, ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ will invest $725,000+ globally to support financial security and education programs. This includes the ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ Foundation’s current multi-year commitments with Junior Achievement USA and Orange County United Way, and new international partnerships between ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ Re and Dress for Success global affiliates, Junior Achievement Worldwide, and The Access Project UK. In addition to these investments, ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ will continue to provide both volunteer and financial support for the Life Lessons Scholarship Program in partnership with Life Happens, and the ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ LIFEvest Financial Literacy Program at the University of California, Irvine.

Food Security

¾«¶«Ó°Òµâ€™s global philanthropy program will grant $675,000+ to local and national food banks and food pantries in 2024 through existing multi-year commitments with Feeding America; Blue Ridge Area Food Bank in Lynchburg, Virginia; Food Bank of the Heartland in Omaha, Nebraska; the OC Food Bank and Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County in California, as well as new partnerships with Daily Bread Food Bank in Canada; Foodbank NSW & ACT in Australia; The Food Bank Singapore; and The Felix Project and The Trussell Trust in the UK.

Ocean Health

¾«¶«Ó°Òµâ€™s more than two-decades-long commitment to protecting the environment and the health of our oceans aims to strengthen the vast ecosystems that enable strong and stable communities. In addition to the ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ Foundation’s recently renewed commitment to invest $2.5 million over five years through our partnerships with Ocean Conservancy, Oceana, The Nature Conservancy, and World Wildlife Fund, ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ Re, ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ's global reinsurance business, announced a new pledge to WWF-UK of £450,000 over four years in support of the Blue Forest Program. We project that our global philanthropic investments in ocean health will exceed $725,000 in 2024, with $17.9 million invested to date.

Disaster Relief

Having a long history of providing support in times of disaster, the ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ Foundation will continue as a member of the American Red Cross Disaster Responder Program, helping to ensure the Red Cross is prepared to meet the needs of people affected by disasters big and small across the U.S. Since 2000, ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ and the ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ Foundation have donated $5.1 million to disaster response and preparedness efforts through a variety of nonprofit organizations.

3Ts of Education

In 2024, 164 K-12 schools nationwide are expected to receive more than $437,000 in 3Ts of Education grant funding, including 110 schools in Southern California, 16 schools in the greater Omaha, NE area, and 15 schools in the greater Lynchburg, VA area. Each one of these schools has children or grandchildren of ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ employees in attendance. Over the past 26 years, nearly $11 million in 3Ts grants have been distributed.

Community Engagement Programs

The ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ Foundation invests in the causes our employees care most about by providing ways they can give back to the community through volunteering or matching donations. As part of the newly enhanced global match program, employees can receive matching contributions annually by donating to ¾«¶«Ó°Òµâ€™s United Way campaign, to nonprofits, K-12 schools, and universities, or from individual and team volunteer efforts. Additionally, company-wide employee engagement opportunities in 2024 will include the return of the Employee Impact Grants Program, three Week of Service events, monthly volunteer activities with local food security partners, environmental cleanups, new collaborations with employee resource groups, and focused department-led team volunteer efforts.
