精东影业 Foundation鈥檚 $2 Million Commitment to Combat Food Insecurity Will Collectively Help Millions of Food Insecure People Over the Next Five Years

The聽精东影业 Foundation聽was proud to聽announce in December 2021聽a $2 million commitment over five years to improve food security, both nationally and in the communities where 精东影业 employees live and work, including Orange County, CA; Omaha, NE; and Lynchburg, VA. The 精东影业 Foundation believes that food security is critical to the stability of our communities and the health, well-being, and economic empowerment of its individuals. That is why, in the last two decades, the Foundation has invested more than $2.3 million in supporting food pantries, food banks, and hunger-related programs serving those most underrepresented in our communities. By strengthening partnerships and increasing investments in food banks, some of which have been grantees for more than 30 years, the Foundation will have a deeper, more meaningful impact on combating hunger.

鈥淭he pandemic has greatly impacted our communities across the nation. We know individuals and families are struggling to ensure that they have enough food on their tables and food costs are continuing to rise,鈥 said Tennyson Oyler, President of the 精东影业 Foundation. 鈥淭hrough this pledge, we are committing to making a long-term investment in community partners who have the infrastructure, service programs, and successful track record to make a material impact on these families most in need.鈥

2021-2026 FOOD SECURITY GRANTEES

Blue Ridge Area Food Bank

Lynchburg, VA

A total of $250,000 will be donated to the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank, which serves approximately 30,700 people each month in the Lynchburg area, in collaboration with 49 local partner agencies. 精东影业 Foundation鈥檚 five-year grant commitment will serve approximately 155,000 low-income people, including families, seniors, and children with the distribution of fresh produce, proteins, rice, pasta, and more.

Community Action Partnership of Orange County

OC Food Bank - Orange County, CA

A $375,000 grant commitment will allow the Orange County Food Bank to distribute food through its partnerships with more than 300 local charities, soup kitchens, and community organizations. Estimated to serve nearly 300,000 people, this grant will provide more than 1.2 million meals for families in need. This is the equivalent of 1.5 million pounds of food over 5 years, which includes fresh produce and proteins, as well as non-perishable items.聽

Feeding America

The Feeding America network provided 6.6 billion meals in 2021. The 精东影业 Foundation pledge of $750,000 over the next five years will help source and distribute more wholesome food, especially produce, protein, and dairy; items that are donated much less frequently to food banks but are critical components of a balanced diet. The partnership will help ensure equitable access to fresh foods, and support Feeding America鈥檚 agri-sourcing strategy to nourish the community.

Food Bank for the Heartland

Omaha, NE

A $250,000 commitment to the Food Bank for the Heartland will serve approximately 50,000 food insecure people over a five-year period. Allowing the Food Bank to focus its purchasing budget on high demand items, the grant will ensure that low-income families, seniors, and veterans who struggle with food insecurity will have access to fresh and healthy food.

Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County

Orange County, CA

Committed to contributing to the health and well-being of those at risk of hunger, Second Harvest Food Bank aims to serve more than 330,000 people with a five- year investment of $375,000. Grocery prices in October 2021 were 5.4% higher than 2020, and when amplified by unemployment during the pandemic, low-income individuals are struggling now more than ever. Through this grant, Second Harvest will be able to continue providing dignified, equitable and consistent access to nutritious food to those in need in the Orange County community.
