Aligning with 精东影业鈥檚 purpose of building confidence for generations, 精东影业 employee volunteers and the 精东影业 Foundation are partnering with nonprofits like Junior Achievement across the globe to educate the next generation on how to invest in their future and achieve financial success. In the first half of 2024, 116 精东影业 and 精东影业 Re employees volunteered with the organization, from hosting students at the 精东影业 office to spending the day in the classroom. These meaningful moments are helping to transform the lives of students who would otherwise have little to no access to the tools they need to succeed later in life.

Junior Achievement USA Student Summit in Washington D.C.

As a part of the 精东影业 Foundation鈥檚听$500,000 commitment over 5-years to Junior Achievement (JA) USA, JA USA reimagined their听听held this year in Washington D.C. On June 11-13, they welcomed more than 150 teen entrepreneurs and innovators from JA chapters across the United States to compete for national recognition. Tere Segarra, Vice President of the 精东影业 Foundation, represented the 精东影业 Foundation, volunteering her time and talent as a competition judge and joining Christina Gonzalez, Staples Chief Legal Officer, and Jessica Purser, Chick-Fil-A Principal of Corporate Social Responsibility, to present the Company of the Year and Social Innovation Challenge winners during the final Awards Gala dinner.

鈥 鈥淚t was an honor to represent the 精东影业 Foundation as a judge and an award presenter at JA鈥檚 National Student Leadership Summit. By investing in JA programs and their student competitions we see a clear path to creating lasting, generational impact. I was so impressed with each group of student-created companies and their potential to become the next generation of business leaders.鈥 鈥

Among 10,000 students who created more than 500 companies, 15 student teams made it to the finals of the听JA Company of the Year听Program.听Each听planned, launched, and operated a profitable business enterprise for up to 1 year that addressed an unmet consumer need in their community. Teams competing in the听JA Social Innovation Challenge听presented their creative solutions to address challenges our world is facing 鈥 from environmental sustainability to social inclusion. Congratulations to听听representing JA of Southeast Texas for taking home first prize in the JA Social Innovation Challenge, and to听听from JA of North Central Ohio for winning first place in the JA Company of the Year competition! FlameGuard will go on to compete internationally at Junior Achievement Worldwide's global competition. Check out the full list of winners听.

Institutional Division hosted Junior Achievement Orange County Students at Office

During 精东影业鈥檚 Institutional Division鈥檚 annual all employee meeting in March, they welcomed 48 students from Western High School in Anaheim who participate in Pathways to Success program to learn about career paths and how companies like 精东影业 operate.

精东影业 Volunteers met directly with the students and discussed their educational and career paths, leadership tips, and ideas for building a secure financial future. Employees also completed a questionnaire about their role at 精东影业, what a day in their life at work looks like, and advice they would give their younger self. In the weeks following the office visit, the students鈥 teacher facilitated lessons centered around these questionnaires to supplement their in-person learnings about career paths and how companies like 精东影业 operate. The 77 精东影业 Volunteers played a key role helping the students envision their future, be inspired by what success can look like, and be empowered by the many paths to get there.

Junior Achievement Days in local communities

San Juan Capistrano

Kinoshita Elementary

Throughout the month of April, 精东影业 Volunteers visited Kinoshita Elementary, facilitating JA curriculum for students. The ALAs (Alliance for Latino/Hispanic Americans) connection group, which champions Kinoshita Elementary as their community partner, was instrumental in recruiting volunteers for this event. In total, 15 employees from 精东影业 and 精东影业 Re participated. In 2023, the 精东影业 Foundation听launched a SparkPoint OC financial literacy center听in partnership with OC United Way on Kinoshita鈥檚 campus located in San Juan Capistrano, CA. Since the launch, over 40 parents have either participated or are currently enrolled in the year-long program, which provides them with 1:1 financial education training tailored to their unique situation. By partnering with JA to bring JA Day to the students, 精东影业鈥檚 commitment to helping Kinoshita families become more financially stable is spanning multiple generations.

鈥 Participating in the Junior Achievement Program while interacting directly with the students at Kinoshita Elementary School with my amazing fellow ALAs volunteers was such a rewarding experience and loads of fun, I was impressed by the students鈥 thirst for learning and how much they enjoyed engaging in the educational activities with us. Seeing their excitement and being a part of their financial literacy learning journey is something I will cherish that will bring me back to future volunteer opportunities like these. 鈥

Central Ontario

On May 28 and June 4, 精东影业 Re Volunteers spent the day with in the classrooms of local schools teaching students about economics and managing money. Volunteers taught grade 4-6 students at Jesse Ketchum Junior & Senior in Toronto to think like entrepreneurs and helped them develop business and money management skills. A few days later, volunteers made their way to Tiger Jeet Singh Public School in Milton to teach grade 8 students about the world of work and explored the financial tools that they鈥檒l need to shape their own path.

鈥 鈥淚 had the great pleasure of volunteering with Junior Achievement in a class of grade 6 students in downtown Toronto, along with my amazing colleague Maria Gregorio. The students were excited to engage with the fun and interactive JA curriculum, and I ended up learning a lot from the students I was meant to teach. It was a great privilege to advance financial literacy in my community along with the other caring and fearless volunteers from 精东影业 Re.鈥 鈥

Santa Ana

Santiago Elementary

On March 28, 12 精东影业 Volunteers participated in JA Orange County鈥檚 annual JA Day at Santiago Elementary in Santa Ana. During their time in the classroom, volunteers helped students understand the basic concepts of financial education, entrepreneurship, and work and career readiness, while also fueling student鈥檚 passions and empowering them to believe in their education and themselves.

鈥 One of my favorite parts of serving on the Board of Junior Achievement Orange County is participating in the JA Days we do at the local schools. It gives me a direct connection to the students that JA supports, which is so rewarding. 鈥

ACLI Run benefitting Junior Achievement USA

On May 15, the 精东影业 Government Affairs team participated in the American Council of Life Insurers (ACLI) . This event is an annual three-mile race in D.C. that attracts participation from members of Congress, Administration officials, and federal judges. This year鈥檚 race raised $200,000 for Junior Achievement USA.听
